Abigail Carter Williams

- Mrs. Abigail Carter Williams, 70, of Rockett Road passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1943 in Yadkin County to Ralph Monroe and Edith Davis Carter. Mrs. Williams worked for over 30 years with Yadkin County Schools as a Teacher Assistant and Bus Driver for Fall Creek Elementary School. She grew up attending Mt. Carmel Friends Meeting, and after marriage became a member of Union Cross Friends Meeting, where she served the church faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, working with the Youth, helping with Special Events, and she enjoyed singing with the Adult Choir. Mrs. Williams was also a member of the East Bend Senior Center Senior Chorus. She loved the outdoors, whether she was working with her flowers in her yard, or decorating her house for special holidays or occasions. Mrs. Williams was a loving, devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family and cherished the time she could spend with each of them, especially any activity that her grandchildren where involved in. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Monroe Carter; an infant sister, Nora Jan Carter; a sister, Bonnie Carter Brown; and her brothers-in-law, Junior Williams and wife, Nelda; and Jim Williams. Surviving are her devoted husband of 51 years, Howard "Squash" Williams, of the home; her children, Penny Williams Hennings, and husband, Barry, East Bend; Mickey Monroe Williams and wife, Lisa of Yadkinville; grandchildren, Lauren Williams, Lindsey Williams, Barrett Hennings, R. Parkley Hennings; her mother, Edith Davis Carter, of East Bend; sisters, Wilda Carter Lucas, and husband, Bobby, Dena Carter Todd, and husband, Stanley; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Williams, Billy and Carol Williams, Max and Carolyn Williams, Harold and Nancy Williams; James "Jim" Brown and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Union Cross Friends Meeting by Rev. Robin Dixon and Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
