Billy Gene Hurt

Jonesville Mr. Billy Gene Hurt, 77, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Hurt was a very special husband, father, and grandfather. He was born May 8, 1936 in Surry County to Paul and Idah Davis Hurt. Mr. Hurt was a member of Arlington First Baptist Church and had served in the US Army. He retired from Clark Equipment in Statesville in 1995. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hurt was preceded in death by one brother, James Hurt. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Combs Hurt; two sons, Jeffrey Curtis (Vickie) Hurt, Sr., and Paul Gene (Patricia) Hurt; one daughter, Shana Hurt (Jack) Carlton; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Curtis (Sally) Hurt, Jr., Christopher Lee Hurt, David Paul Hurt, and Brittany Marie Hurt; two step grandchildren, Alex Matthew Carlton and Christina Lynne Carlton; six great grandchildren, one which was very special to "Paw-Paw", his precious Addison; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00PM at Boonville Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Fugate officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Arlington First Baptist Church, 345 South Main Street Jonesville, NC 28642. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses on the 7th floor of the North Tower CCU at WFUBMC for all their love, care, and support shown to Mr. Hurt during this difficult time.
