Susan Anderson Henderson

January 20, 1949 — October 27, 2013

Henderson Mocksville - Susan Anderson Henderson, 64, died October 27, 2013 with her family by her side at Autumn Care of Mocksville. She was born January 20, 1949 to Sue Anderson and the late Jim Anderson. She made a career as an LPN working at Vespers Nursing Home in Wilkesboro. Susan came to reside at Autumn Care nursing home late in life. Many hours were spent in the kitchen with her friend Cindy cooking special treats for the residents and staff. Every holiday was a sure time to make desserts or bake biscuits. Returning home from the hospital to Autumn Care on Thursday, she went to the kitchen early Friday morning to bake two cakes for the Relay for Life bake sale. She loved to quilt and sew. When residents would ask her to mend their garments, she quickly went to work. The staff and residents at Autumn Care became a second family to Susan. She actively participated in all activities. She was crowned Valentine Queen this year along with King Robert Boger, her dear friend. Robert and Susan were officially tagged Autumn Care Resident Greeters as they frequently sat in the sun and smiled to welcome visitors. She often expressed her great affection for the place she had come to call home. Scott, a special Autumn Care employee, would stop working to say a prayer for her when he saw her in pain. She spent many long days in hospital beds but never grumbled or complained. God took home a lovely lady. Lord teaches us to be more like Susan; love everyone, never grumble or complain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Henderson. Surviving: her son Delane Henderson; her mother; two sisters Janet (David) Robertson and Judy (Mike) Kipfer; four grandchildren, Josh and Jimmie Henderson, Jessie Frady, Jonathan Mikels; daughter-in-law, Carol Henderson; her Autumn Care Family; and her much loved friend, Robert Boger. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Scott Jackson and the Rev. Chris Williams. Burial will follow at West Yadkin Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
