Devon Harding Short

Yadkinville Mrs. Devon Viola Harding Short, 60, separated this life unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2013. Mrs. Short was born July 14, 1953 in Forsyth County to Oscar and Louise Tomlin Harding. She attended Yadkin County Schools and also attended Tabernacle United Church of Christ when her health permitted her to. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her sister, Willie Mae Harding. Mrs. Short was a loving mother to Val (Michelle) Short and a devoted grandmother to Noah and Tristian Short and Cheyenne Boger. Mrs. Short has one great grandson, Joshua Barahona. She was a loving sister to Bernice (James) Hill and Robin Harding. Mrs. Short also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:00PM at Tabernacle United Church of Christ with Rev. Marvin Harper officiating. She will lie in state from 1:30 to 2:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mrs. Short's caregiver, Jean Ashley, for all the love, care, and support shown to her during her illness.
