Eugene Dinkins

Dinkins Yadkinville- Mr. Eugene Dinkins, 92, of 2916 Shacktown Road passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late Charlie Dan and Maude Dinkins. Mr. Dinkins was former owner and operator of Dinkins Brothers Shell Station of Yadkinville, and of the Yadkinville Car Wash. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. During his service he was in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. MR. Dinkins was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, enjoyed the time he spent with his family, and especially loved to go fishing with his friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Dinkins. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Hutchens Dinkins, of the home; a daughter, Carol Hamel and husband, Pierre, of Yadkinville; granddaughters, Michelle O'keefe and husband, Sean, Pittsburgh, Pa, Jessica Stevens of Winston-Salem; Katy Hamel of Yadkinville; his brothers, Wayne Dinkins, Harold Dinkins, and sister, Bonnie Allen. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Dinkins will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Maplewood Baptist Church by Rev. jimmy Lancaster. Full Military Honors will be given by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church on Monday. In lieu to flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055 Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the family.
