Hamptonville Ms. Ivina "Susie" Cheek, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her home. Ms. Cheek was born November 14, 1944 in Surry County to Spurgeon and Notra Pardue Cheek. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church and retired from Dana Corporation after many years of service. Susie loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved her Saturday morning shopping sprees with her sister and their Monday morning shopping spree returns. In addition to her parents, Ms. Cheek was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Shores; and a brother, Junior Cheek. She is survived by two children, Darren (Jeannie) Shores and Kim Swaim (Tony Gentry); eight grandchildren, Hannah Barker, Nichole, Cole, and Aaron Shores, Haley and Andrew Swaim, Seth and Hope Swaim (like her own); two great grandchildren; her soul mate, Dennis Myers; her sister and best friend, Jean (Claude) Macy, a special sister, Tonie (Grady) Wilmoth; a brother, Alvin Cheek; and two special nieces Shannon Swaim and Heather Macy; along with several other nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00AM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Johnson, Rev. Ricky Walker, and Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148, which was a very special charity to Susie.
