Evelyn Arnold Brown Irwin

Margaret "Evelyn" Arnold Brown Irwin,94, passed away Tuesday December 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 22, 1919 in Yadkin County to the late John William and Rosa Jane Hinshaw Arnold. She was born and also died in the same house after 94 years. Mrs. Irwin was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville were she also sang in the Choir. She was a Book Keeper at Elkin Furniture, she signed up all employees for Social Security when it began. She was a book keeper at Yadkin Valley Packers from day 1 until it closed and also a Book Keeper at Royall Drug and Bridge Street Pharmacy. She worked at Walmart as a greeter until she was 80 years old. She was a loving, sacrificing, supportive mother. She gave independence a beautiful example. She was a very gracious lady to all she came in contact with. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband Coy Stanford "Penny" Brown, 2nd husband Gene R. Irwin; a son John Wesley Brown; a sister Olene Arnold Johnson. Surviving are her daughter Pat Brown Shore and her husband Donny; three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Friday December 6, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Her memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church by Rev. Roger Hensley and Rev.
