Yadkinville Mrs. Alma Doss Hardy Macemore, 97, formerly of Shacktown Road, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Macemore was born February 28, 1916 in Surry County to the late Albert and Sina Allen Doss. Mrs. Macemore was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and friends. Mrs. Macemore was an avid gardener and seamstress. She attended Yadkinville Pentecostal Holiness Church as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Macemore was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Hardy and her second husband, Harvey Macemore; two sons, Paul Hardy, Jr. and Roger Hardy; two brothers, Elmer Doss and Gurney Doss; a sister, Alda McCollum; and a nephew, Larry McCollum. She is survived by her son, Wayne (Pamela) Hardy; daughter-in-law, Catharene Hardy; sister-in-law, Vaudeline Doss; four grandchildren, Scott, Darrell, Cathy, and Ronnie (Wendy) Hardy; five great grandchildren, Scott Jr., Pamela, Bradley, Cody (Marie), and Matthew Hardy; and three nephews, Chris (Cindy) McCollum, Wade McCollum, and David Doss. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Jimmy Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkinville Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for all their love, compassion, and support given to Mrs. Macmore and her family for 13 years.
