Catherine Ball Martin

Jonesville Mrs. Catherine Freeman Ball Martin, 89, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Martin was born July 15, 1924 in Richmond, VA to James and Lena Fant Freeman. She was a loyal member of Arlington First Baptist Church where she was very active in different activities. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her first husband, Odell W. Ball; her second husband, Paul R. Martin; a step son, Benny Martin; six sisters; and six brothers. She is survived by two children, Ronald O. Ball and wife Regina, and Deborah E. Money and husband Bobby; a step son, Donnie Martin and wife Dana; eight grandchildren, Angela Parks and husband Tim, Eric Ball and wife Alison, Becky Shore, Scottie Shore and wife Tammy, Damen Martin, Ciara Martin, Robbie Martin and wife Melissa and Michael Groce and wife Anita; twelve great grandchildren, Weston Parks, Alexis and Natalie Ball, Brandon and Bradley Adams, and Cameron, Dawson, Kylee, and Rylan Martin, Kris Groce and Amanda Perry and husband Todd; four great-great grandchildren, Taylor, Jackson, and Mason Perry, and Parker Groce; a very special caregiver, Betty Pickett; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 9, 2013 at 3:00PM at Arlington First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Fugate officiating. She will lie in state from 2:30 to 3:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Martin.
