DeVerle Hayes Wilkins

Hamptonville Mrs. DeVerle Hanna Hayes Wilkins, 65, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Wilkins was born October 21, 1948 in Wilkes County to Roscoe and Hazel Yates Hayes. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Hayes. Mrs. Wilkins loved gardening, traveling, and reading. She also enjoyed spending much of her time shopping, taking care of her cats, and listening to music. She enjoyed cooking holiday meal for her family and going to plays and musicals, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her twin granddaughters. Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Lanny Gail Wilkins; a son, Gregory Gideon Hayes and wife Kelly; three granddaughters, Holli Hayes, Heather Hayes, and Suzanna Enloe; two great grandchildren, Kayden and Brian Enloe; and a sister, Frankie Hayes South. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00AM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Jerry Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at Bible Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all who kept DeVerle in their thoughts and prayers the past year. Your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated by her and the entire family.
