Jonesville Mrs. Violet Lewis Shaw, 92, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Morningside Assisted Living following an extended illness. Mrs. Shaw was a native of Ashe County and a long-time resident of Jonesville, NC. The daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Allen Lewis, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Lonnie Hugh Shaw; and her brothers, Dewitt and Paul Lewis. Surviving are her son, John Lewis Shaw and daughter-in-law Betsy of Raleigh; grandchildren, Beth and her husband Benton Satterfield of Cary, Catherine and her husband Chip Pate of Apex, and Jonathan and his wife Amy of Apex; along with ten beloved great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Jack Lewis of Dublin, MD, Bobby Lewis of Trade, TN, and Jimmy Lewis of Creston, NC. Mrs. Shaw retired after 30 years of faithful service to Chatham Manufacturing Company and was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Lewis had a wonderful sense of humor and a mischievous laugh. She adored and spoiled her three grandchildren and had a gentle spirit that remained until the very end. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 3, 2013 at 2:00PM at Swaims Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living for the wonderful care she received during her four year stay.
