Jerry Franklin Shoffner

Mocksville Mr. Jerry Franklin Shoffner, 79, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Shoffner was born September 2, 1934 in Surry County to Wilson and Irene Pardue Shoffner. He was of the Baptist faith, and recently accepted Christ as his Savior. Mr. Shoffner was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Blue Ridge Textiles. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shoffner was preceded in death by an infant sister. He is survived by two daughters, Terri (Bill) Lambert and Annette (Gerald) Hempstead; six grandchildren, Shari and Jonathan Stephens, Jordan and Colby Hempstead, and Melissa and Ryan Lambert; one great grandchild, Evan Hempstead; one sister, Barbara Powell; two brothers, James (Lurae) Shoffner and Bill Shoffner; mother of his children and lifelong friend, Margaret Shoffner; many nieces and nephews; and several golfing buddies. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 6:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Pastor Jesus Perez officiating. Military honors will be provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Yadkin Nursing Center 903 W. Main Street Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for all the love, care, and support shown to Mr. Shoffner during this difficult time.
