Betty Steelman Crews

Yadkinville Mrs. Betty Steelman Crews, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Crews was born April 24, 1936 in Yadkin County to Joe and Sally Elma Cass Stellman. She graduated from West Yadkin High School in 1954 and was a member of Yadkinville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Crews served as a volunteer at Hoots Memorial Hospital for many years and she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a very active church member. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Eldon Gray Crews; and a sister, Olene Trivette. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Lynette Crews and Sally Eldeana (Kenneth) Blackburn; one granddaughter, Anna Catherine Blackburn; two sisters, Edith Dobbins and Lola Davis; two brothers, Bill (Nancy) Steelman and James Steelman; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00AM at Yadkinville First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Boaz officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
