Danny Ray Zachary

Zachary Yadkinville - Danny Ray Zachary, 53, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on August 6, 1960 in Yadkinville, NC to Dan E. and Clarice Hope Fletcher Zachary. Danny was employed at Matthews Brothers Grading for 19 years and retired from the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a member of Pilot View Friends Meeting. Danny enjoyed vacations at the mountains, golfing, and beach trips with his family. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his dog Clifford, pool time cookouts, and NASCAR racing. A friend who could be counted on, one who enjoyed life and gave freely without expectation of anything in return. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Zachary; brother-in-law, Jimmy White. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gwyn Rachele Ford Zachary; sister, Barbara White; sister-in-law, Linda Zachary; aunts, Cassie Salmons and Lucille Miller; several nieces and nephews, Kyle, Liz, Terry, Sherry, Chelsea, Chloe, Karsyn, and Keradyn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Pilot View Friends Meeting by the Rev. Gene Moser and the Rev. Dean Chandler. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
