James "J.D." Daniel Sheek

Yadkinville Mr. James Daniel "J.D." Sheek, 89, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Sheek was born July 21, 1924 in Yadkin County to Charles and Mamie Holcomb Sheek. He was a long time member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheek was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Sheek and Robbie Hamman; and one sister, Ruth Cook. He is survived by twelve children, Larry (Brenda) Sheek, Randall Sheek, Tony (Carolyn) Sheek, Peggy Shore, John Richard (Lynn) Sheek, David Randall Sheek, Diane (Rick) Smitson, Jimmy (Diana) Sheek, Caroline Reed, Sherri Benningfield (Doug), Michael (Melissa) Sheek, Brian Sheek, and Bronson Sheek (Sherry); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Gerry Parham and Dorothy Fulton; one brother, Kenneth Sheek; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 12:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Jon Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Haven Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice and the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for all the love, care, and support shown to Mr. Sheek.
