Irene Peele Lowery

Yadkinville Mrs. Lucy "Irene" Peele Lowery, 94, passed away, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Lowery was born October 21, 1919 in Surry County to James and Jennie Coe Peele. She was a member of Courtney Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Baity Lowery; a step grandson, Michael Burton; one brother, Ed Peele; and three sisters, Kathleen Flemming, Ola Parker, Lula Rachels. She is survived by one son, J.B. (Jane) Lowery; two step children, Joan (Bob) Burton and Jimmy (Margie) Lowery; three grandchildren, Casey Hartness, Tim (Hollie) Lowery, and Tammy McClamrock; one sister, Polly (John) Seaford; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00AM at Courtney Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Courtney Baptist Church, 3341 Courtney Church Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice and the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Lowery and her family.
