Dobson Mrs. Catherine Anthony Hutchins, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hutchins was born September 10, 1925 in Surry County to Clay and Mattie Mooney Anthony. She graduated valedictorian of her senior class. Mrs. Hutchins was a member of Rockford Baptist Church, having taught Sunday school there for many years. She was well known for her fried apple pies that were sold at Rockford General Store and she was a friend and neighbor to everyone she knew. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by her husband, C. Gray Hutchins; a son, Charles Hutchins; an infant daughter; a sister, Ruth Anthony; and six brothers, Walter Gray, Paul, Fred, Bill, A., and Jesse Anthony. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna Hutchins; two grandchildren, Ben and Emily Hutchins; a sister, Annie Laura "Tootie" Arant and husband Johnny; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00PM at Rockford Baptist Church with Rev. Lanny Atkins and Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hutchins will lie in state from 1:30 to 2:00PM at the church. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27107. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital 3rd floor and ER for all the love and care given to Mrs. Hutchins.
