Ted Adams

July 29, 1923 — April 30, 2014

Jonesville Mr. Ted Adams, Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Mr. Adams was born July 29, 1923 in Yadkin County to Commodore and Pearl Vanhoy Adams. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, having served in WWII. Mr. Adams was a member of East Elkin Full Gospel Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Blackburn Adams; two sisters, Mittie and Retia Adams; and three brothers, Ralph "Dodge" Adams, William "Dud" Adams, and Hobart "Red" Adams. He is survived by a son, Ted (Cindy) Adams, Jr.; three grandchildren, Becky (Mark) Spencer, Michael Adams, and Shawntay Lindley; four great grandchildren, Lacey Danielle Blackwell, Max Taylor Adams, Rylee Faye Adams, and Shaylea Emma-Bell Smith; two brothers, Kayo Adams and Bobby "Pud" Adams; and an uncle, Carl Vanhoy. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 5, 2014 at 2:00PM at East Elkin Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jerry Childress officiating. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to East Elkin Full Gospel Church, Hwy 268 E Jonesville, NC 28642 or to Yadkin VFW Post 10346 14509 Elkin Hwy 268 Ronda, NC 28670. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and Jonesville Family Practice for the great care they have given to Mr. Adams. They would also like to thank Linda and Odell Vestal, Larry and Linda Adams, Ronnie and Phyllis Adams, Lena and Richard Simendinger, and to the many friends and neighbors for the years of love, care and support shown to Mr. Adams and his family. A very special thank you goes to Chuck Knight for assisting Mr. Adams on a trip to Washington DC with other veterans.
