Billy R. Riley

Mr. Billy R. Riley, 78, of Old US 421 Highway passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born March 4, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late Roby and Ruby Byrd Riley. Mr. Riley was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 34 years of service, was a cattle farmer for several years, and was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his infant brother, James Calvin Riley. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years and 4 months, Opaline Snow Riley, of the home; two sons, Gregory S. Riley and wife, Ava of Hamptonville, Joel R. Riley and wife, Patricia of Hamptonville; and grandchildren, Jacob R. Riley and Rebecca A. Riley. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday May 5, 2014 at Mountain View Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM Monday in Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Woltz Hospice Home, 176 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 28676; St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the Baptist Childrens Home, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, and to Woltz Hospice Home for all the loving care given to Mr. Riley.
