Ersie Tuttle Hoots

Hoots Walkertown - Ersie Rebecca Tuttle Hoots, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 21, 1928 in Stokes County to the late Jim Lee Tuttle and Susie Tatum Tuttle. Ersie retired from Western Electric after 33 years of service. She volunteered for the Meal on Wheels program. She was also in a Trio called the Singing Sweethearts that entertained the military at Camp Butner and Fort Bragg during WWII. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Delbert Hoots, Sr.; daughter, Carolyn McGee; sisters, Roberta Hutchins, Rumell Holder, Annie Maxey, Mary Elizabeth Martin. Surviving are her sons, Clyde Hoots, Jr., Kelvin "Teddy" Hoots; grandchildren, Lydia Hoots, Sandy (Chris) Yokeley, Kayla Hoots, Kelly Hoots; great grandson, Braelyn Fulton; sister, Carrie Mae Bowden; very special friend, Raymond Fritts; several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2401 Old Stage Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055 by the Rev. Rick Page and the Rev. Phil Wagoner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to Walkertown First Baptist Church, 5185 Sullivantown Road, Walkertown, NC 27051. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hoots family.
