King Shores, Chris G. of King, NC 8/18/82-5/6/14 On Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 Chris joined his Grandma Sue Lamp and Grandma Edwina Shores in the presence of Jesus Christ. Chris was born in Flint, MI to Gary Clyde Shores and Debra Sue Lamp. Growing up in Michigan, Chris was an avid, award winning wrestler. His fondness for the sport continued when he attended South Stokes High School, where he continued excelling winning numerous divisional medals. After high school, Chris enlisted in the Army in January of 2002. He was honorably discharged after serving his country for 12 years. Chris served three tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. During his time in the Army, Chris was awarded 36 medals, among them the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Army Achievement Medal (7th award), and Meritorious Unit Commendation. Chris' passion was University of Michigan football and the Detroit Tigers baseball. Chris is survived by his daughter, Krista, mother Debra Sue Lamp, father Gary Clyde Shores, step-mother Jean Osborne Cumbie, Grandpa Frank Delano (Kitty) Lamp, sisters Shawn Marie Shores, Shelby Ann Lee, Sarah-Anne (Tim) Mikles, Laura Cumbie (Gary) Woods, uncle Christopher Kyle (Kathy) Shores, aunt Diana Lynn (Dave) Cunningham, uncle Scott Wesley (Michelle) Lamp, 5 nieces and nephews, Landen and Lynzee Lee-Culhane, Rachel (Allen) Norris, Bethany-Lea Woods, and Leon Mikles; and wife Eronilde Chavez Shores. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00AM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Jonesville. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard Honor Guard.
