Joe Burchette

Burchette Hamptonville - Joe Burchette, 82, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at his home. He was born January 29, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Otto Redrick Burchette and Daisy Elizabeth Cummings Burchette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roland Burchette, Bill Burchette, Donald Burchette, Roger Burchette; sisters, Mary Francis Burchette, Margaret Ann Burchette, Doris Foster, Carolyn Cornatzer, and Helen Presnell. Joe enjoyed doing wood working, gardening, and flowers. He especially enjoyed raising orchids. He was known for enjoying life and teasing the people he loved. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Spry Burchette; daughters, Venica Harris, Gwen Moore, Michelle Roll, Janine Lewis; son, Marc Burchette; sister, Peggy (Ralph) Lane; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Joel Vestal. Burial will follow at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury with full military right. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank and appreciate the services of Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Cathy Johnson, Stephanie Stanley, Greg Anderson, and Melinda Cockerham.
