Harmony Mr. Roy Houston Templeton, 95, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Brian Center in Statesville. Mr. Templeton was born September 14, 1918 in Iredell County to William and Nancy Mullis Templeton. He was a member of Winthrop Friends Meeting where he taught Sunday school for many years. Mr. Templeton loved gardening and was also a well-known carpenter. He retired as a machinist from Southern Screw Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Templeton was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Bridges Templeton; a son, Leroy Templeton; one sister; and four brothers. He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Wall Hicks; five grandchildren, Avery (Krista) Williams, Marilyn (Randy) Rash, Shannon (Bill) Wall-McCarthey, Mark (Angela) Wall, and Amanda (Andy) Smith; eight great grandchildren, Melissa Cronk, Amber Ann Hauser, Isabel Wall, Coy Wall, Lucia Ann Wall, Morgan Smith, Carter Smith, and Matthew Rash; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00PM at Winthrop Friends Meeting (262 Winthrop Rd Harmony NC 28634) with Pastor Harold Salmons, Rev. RC Redmond, and Alec Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winthrop Friends Meeting, Meals on Wheels, 262 Winthrop Rd Harmony NC 28634. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of 5 North at Iredell Memorial Hospital and the staff of the Brian Center in Statesville for all the love, care, and support shown to Mr. Templeton during his illness.
