Boonville Mr. Evan Walter Vestal, 88, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Elkin Healthcare. Mr. Vestal was born June 1, 1925 in Yadkin County to Dewalt and Lora Collins Vestal. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church. Mr. Vestal was owner and operator of Kennedy Auto which was his life and hobby for 60 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vestal was preceded in death by his wife, Verlie Hodge Vestal; a son, Don Vestal; two sisters, Annie Pearl Hemric and Gail Murphy; and seven brothers, Homer, Paul, Hobert, Harvey, Richard, Carl Vestal, and an infant brother. He is survived by two children, Louise (Billy Gray) Freeman, and Phil (Trish) Vestal; five grandchildren, Wendy (Michael) Norman, Wesley (Maranda) Vestal, Scotty (Carrie) Vestal, Josh (Amber) Arnder, and Sonia (Preston) Harrison; five great grandchildren, Cody Norman, Allyssa Vestal, Colten Vestal, and Brennan and Blaine Arnder; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2:00PM at Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Driver and Rev. Mark Rupard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Elkin Healthcare for all the love, care, and support shown to Mr. Vestal during his illness.
