Hobson Yadkinville- Mr. James H. "Jim" Hobson, 80, of Old US 421 Highway East went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Yadkin Valley Community Hospital. He was born September 18, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Claude H. and Minnie B. Hobson. Mr. Hobson worked for several years as a mechanic with Pennington Chevrolet. He then worked with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired from Drexel-Heritage Furniture Company. Mr. Hobson loved to make birdhouses for his friends. His passion for this kept him going, even in his last days. He was a faithful member of Pilot View Friends Meeting. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lou Casstevens and Lovena Vestal. Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 ½ years, Beatrice W. "Bea" Hobson, of the home; 3 daughters, Donna Kay Hobson, Yadkinville; Darlene (Grey) Caudle, Boonville; Debra (George) Steelman, Yadkinville; Grandchildren, Russell J. Caudle (Tara Snow), Lauren C. (Justin) Willard; brother, Lawrence (Annette) Hobson, Clemmons; and lots of loving nieces and nephews. His family loved him as "pop" and "Papaw", and he loved them more than anything. His heart of gold, his love of laughter, and his perfect grin will be missed by many. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday at Pilot View Friends Meeting by Rev. Gene Moser and Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger. Mr. Hobson will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pilot View Friends Meeting, 3225 Pilot View Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
