Hazel Hicks Grose

Grose Yadkinville- Mrs. Hazel Mae Hicks Grose, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, July 11, 2014 at Yadkin Nursing Center. She was born December 27, 1922 in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Luther and Lelia Ann Lashmit Hicks. Mrs. Grose was a loving devoted homemaker that enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and working in the garden with her husband and family. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell H. Grose, Sr., a grandson, Kevin Williams, and 6 brothers. Surviving are her children, Ralph (Lorene) Groce, Louise G. (Zane) Stewart, Odell H. (Susan) Grose, Jr., Linda G. (Tyler) Tuttle; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty P. Williams; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Susan Harrison. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. William Hutchens. Burial will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina, Inc., 505 Oberlin Road, Suite 230, Raleigh, NC 27605, USA.
