Yadkinville DONALD LLOYD GISH, 86, of Yadkinville, NC lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 15th 2014. He was born in Little Falls, MN on April 26, 1928 to Verne and Josie Gish. He served his country in the Korean War where he received three Bronze Stars. He was a member of VFW Post #10346. Early in his career, he worked for the Army Map Service Corps of Engineers and retired from the Soil and Water Conservation Service after 25 years. He was a member of the Yadkinville United Methodist Church and a devoted Christian. He loved reading his bible, devotionals and mowing the yard. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Martin Gish and his three daughters, Donna Bowman and Linda Gish of Yadkinville, NC and Janet (Norman) Bartlett of Clemmons, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Kelly (Bobby) Hauser, Luke and Leah Bartlett; one great-grandchild: MacKenzie Hauser; two sisters: Beverly Savage of Little Falls, MN and Shirley Von Der Haar of Alexandria, MN as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Yadkinville United Methodist Church in Yadkinville on Friday, July 18th at 3:oo p.m. with Rev. Oliver Helsabeck officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Yadkin VFW Post #10346. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family request a memorial is made in his memory to the Yadkinville United Methodist Church building fund; Mountain Valley Hospice or the charity of your choice.
