James "Ken" Kenneth Holcomb

Elkin James Kenneth "Ken" Holcomb, age 69, of Elkin, NC, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Ken was born on September 5, 1944 in Surry County, NC to the late Lee and Helen Simmons Holcomb. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Dobbins Holcomb of Jonesville, NC, and his two sons, K. Alan Holcomb and wife Heather McKie Holcomb of Scottsdale, AZ, and Scott Caldwell Holcomb and wife Sabrina Kennedy Holcomb of Jonesville, NC, his daughter, Meredith Ann Holcomb of Charleston, SC and three precious grandchildren, Emma Lou Matras and Miles Caldwell Holcomb, both of Jonesville, NC and Max McKie of Phoenix, AZ. Ken is also survived by his loving brother, Bonson Lee Holcomb and wife Patsy Holcomb of Carolina Shores, NC; niece, Karen Royall and husband Van Royall of Winston-Salem, NC; his great-niece, Jordan Treece of Longs, SC; and his sweet mother-in-law, Evelyn Swaim Dobbins of Elkin, NC. His niece, Lynn Holcomb of Carolina Shores, NC, recently preceded him in death. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins, most of whom knew him better as "Butch" Holcomb, and special friends who will always remember him as an avid fisherman. The family would like to thank Jane Hendrick for her loyalty to Ken during his last few months of life. In honor of Ken's wishes, a memorial service will not be held. Friends and family are welcome at Carolyn's home (formerly The Dobbins residence).
