Essie Mae Swaim Mathis

Essie Mae Swaim Mathis, 85, passed away Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Willowbrook Healthcare Center. She was born December 8, 1928 in Yadkin County to the late Oscar "Ross" and Lonnie Weatherman Swaim. She was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. Mrs. Mathis retired from Chatham Manufacturing she also enjoyed traveling, camping, grandkids, sewing, working in her flowers, and her K9 friend Tiny. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Robbins, a brother Frankie Swaim. Surviving are her husband of 67 years Billy Ray Mathis, a son Otis (Henrietta) Mathis, a daughter Sylvia Kay Mathis; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters Catherine Swaim, Margaret "Bobbie" Turner; two brothers Fred (Carrie Ann) Swaim, Tommy (Sis) Swaim. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday August 15, 2014 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her Funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday August 16, 2014 at Swaims Baptist Church by Rev. Jerry Shelton. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Swaims Baptist Church 3919 Swaims Church Road Hamptonville, NC 27020.
