Trasker Booth Wooten

Wooten East Bend- Mr. Trasker Booth Wooten, 89, of Pride Road passed away September 18, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center after a three week illness. Trasker was born July 6, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late Pride and Lola Wooten. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Glendon Wooten and a niece, Mary Lynn Shermer. Mr. Wooten was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired from Leonard Oil Company, attneded Prospect United Methodist Church, charter member of East Bend Volunteer Fire Department, member of American Legion Post 336, and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Nancy Williams Wooten; Sister's, Gaynell Doub, Vergie Mathis, Shelby Vestal, all of East Bend; Brothers, Thomas and Mary Wooten, Leon and Margaret Wooten, all of East Bend, Samuel and Pat Wooten, of Cary, NC; Sister-in-law, Ruth Wooten, East Bend; and Brother and Sister-in-law, Bill and Anne Neary, of Easton, Maryland; numerous loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday at 3:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Greg Gordon and David Shore, officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the NC National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either American Legion Post 336 c/o David Shore, 1308 Charity Church road, Boonville, NC 27011 or to Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Williams 4008 Pride Road, East Bend, NC 27018. Mrs. Wooten would like to express her gratitude to Yadkin Nursing Center, Mountain Valley Hospice, Shelby Vestal, and Leon and Margaret Wooten for all the loving care and support provided during his illness.
