Yadkinville Mr. Larry Ray Gilley, 69, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Gilley was born January 9, 1945 in Surry County to Luther and Clara Cockerham Gilley. He served in the US Army National Guard and is a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Gilley retired from RJ Reynolds with more than 30 years of service. He was an avid gardener, loved to hunt and fish, and he enjoyed playing horseshoes and Rook. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors and family in any time of need. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his sister, Geneva (Luke) Myers; and brothers, James and Garry Gilley. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Hilda Wagoner Gilley; two daughters, Tammy (Steve) Hall and Deana (Eric) Wilkins; two grandchildren, Kristen Hall and Andy Wilkins; two sisters, Shelby (Kenneth) Allred and Margaret (Gene) Burchette; two sisters-in-law, Clara Mae Gilley and Barbara Gilley; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 4:00PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 prior to the service at the church.
