Smith Yadkinville- Mrs. Sherri Jayne Casstevens Smith, 55, of Fairway Driver passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1959 in Yadkin County to Thomas W. and Joan Wooten Casstevens. Mrs. Smith was a 1977 graduate of Starmount High School and attended Surry Community College. She was currently employed with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council as a Career Facilitator. Mrs. Smith enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many students in making their choices for a career in life. She was a faithful member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and was a loving, devoted, caring homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her father Thomas W. Casstevens. Surviving are her beloved husband of 35 years, Walter Smith, of the home; her 2 sons, Seth Smith of Durham; Stuart Smith, and wife, Stephanie of Hamptonville; 2 grandchildren, Stratton and Sayda Smith; her mother, Joan Casstevens Swaim and husband, D.C. of Jonesville; brother, Jeffery "Jeff" Casstevens, and wife, Darlene of Elkin; step-brother, Rondal Swaim, Boonville; step-sister, Deanna McKnight and husband, Mark of Hamptonville; 2 nieces, Missy Casstevens, Miranda Gray; a nephew, Josh Smith; a great-niece, Macy Gray and great-nephew, Bailey Gray. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral Service will be 2:00PM Saturday at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Phillip Link and Rev. Perry Link. She will lay in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in the North Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Cancer Services, Inc.3175 Maplewood Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to North Oak Ridge Baptist Church, North Oak Ridge Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011.
