Don Cranford

Yadkinville Mr. Don Cranford, 83, went home to be with or Lord on October 17, 2014. Mr. Cranford was born June 19, 1931 in Randolph County to Christopher and Della Lanier Cranford. He was a member of Forbush Baptist Church. Mr. Cranford worked for several years with his father and brothers running a sawmill and later, owned his own upholstery business. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cranford was preceded in death by six brothers, Laughton,Richard, Dewey, Bobby, Olan, and his twin, Juan; three sisters, Vionna Cranford, Pauline Surratt, and Stella Hunt; and one daughter, Christine Cranford. He is survived by the love of his life whom he married on August 30, 1958, Ruby Williams Cranford; one son, Donnie (Lisa) Cranford; three daughters, Julie (Jody) Cranford, Linda (Ted) Gallimore, and Pam (Jerry) Sink; two grandson, Nathan Cranford and Andrew (Connie) Cranford; two sisters, Iva (Bill) Surratt and Lola "Pete" Cranford; and one sister-in-law, Lucy Cranford. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 20, 2014 at 2:30PM at Forbush Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in state from 2:00 to 2:30PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forbush Baptist Church, 3917 Old Hwy 421 East Yadkinville NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to their friends, family and church family for all the love, prayers, and support shown to them and also to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Mr. Cranford.
