Joseph Blackburn, 80, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Blackburn was born June 24, 1934 in Wilkes County to the late Columbus Edmond and Lilly Smith Blackburn. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Elkin for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret Shoffner Blackburn, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his children Sheryl (Keith) Lowe, Joey (Teena) Blackburn, Cathy (Donnie) Smith; grandchildren Christi (John) Wiles, Kelly (Jeffrey) Wood; five sisters Rosa Linville, Jannie Reinhardt, Lyvonne Woodring, Lilly Adams, Mary Earline Mathis; a brother Luther Blackburn. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Elkin. His funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 1, 2014 by Rev. David Key and Rev. Russ Nixon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery by Rev. Jon Bowman and graveside prayer by Joel Blevins.
