Baity East Bend - Roland G. Baity, 69, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. He was born May 8, 1945 in Yadkin County to the late William Baity and Gertrude Palmer Baity. Roland was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He always enjoyed attending his Spares and Pairs Sunday school class at Enon Baptist Church. Roland worked for JTG Daugherty Racing. He loved going to work and being around his racing family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen McDonald, Lillie Mae Dinkins, Wilma Childress; brothers, Ellis Baity, Locksley Baity, Thurman Baity, G.W. Baity. Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou Baity; daughter, Melodie Rickard; grandchildren, Austin Rickard, Zoe Fletcher; special friends, Bill and Karen Hutchens, Spares and Pairs Sunday school class; sisters-in-law, Minnie Baity, Dot Baity; several nieces, nephews, and other family members. His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Elmore. Roland will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November, 13, 2014 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank the Quarles family for a lifesaving gift 18 years ago, and also to Yadkin Nursing Care Center for all the love and care shown to Roland.
