Raymond Wilson Riggs

Raymond Wilson Riggs, 79, passed away Tuesday November 11, 2014 at Willowbrook Healthcare Center. He was born October 19, 1935 in Surry County to the late David Lee Riggs and Metta Viola Hamlin Riggs. He served in the US Army, and a member of Northwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Betty Jo Taylor Riggs, a sister Myrtle Viola Riggs Lewis, three brothers Grover Lee Riggs, "Lonnie" Riggs, and Glen William Riggs. Surviving are his wife Sandra Jester Riggs; a daughter Joanie Riggs; two step daughters Christy (Greg) Gumpert, Maggie (Jason) Lineberry; grandchildren Austin Riggs, Robert Daniel Gumpert, and Kiersten KayLee Gumpert; a sister Martha Alma Riggs Wilmoth; a brother Bill Gray (Bonnie) Riggs. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Friday November 14, 2014 at Northwood Baptist Church. His service will be conducted at 3:00 PM following the visitation at Northwood Baptist Church by Dr. Allen Barker and Dr. Hubert Wishon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors by the NC National Guard and the VFW Post 10346.
