Mary Johnson Alexander

Alexander Yadkinville- Mrs. Mary Johnson Alexander, 74 of Chestnut Street passed away peacefully Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville after a brief illness. She was born April 4, 1940 in Iredell County to the late Devid Gentry Johnson and Clara Belle Hayes Johnson. Mrs. Alexander was the former co-owner and operator of the Discount House in Yadkinville for several years. She then became store manager for Revco Drug Store in Yadkinville, and later C.V.S. of Yadkinville. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending her time with her family and volunteering at Yadkin Valley Community Hospital, and was a member of Yadkinville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Alexander loved helping others that were in need and she especially enjoyed visiting those that were sick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bud Alexander on May 20, 1999; by a grandson, Chris Jones; a sister, Peggy J. Munday; brother-in-law, Jack Warren; brother, Bobby G. Johnson and a sister-in-law, Ann B. Johnson. Surviving are her beloved son, Randy Wiles and wife, Sherry of Winston-Salem; her granddaughter, Sherry B. Ketchie; sisters, Barbara J. Warren, Hickory; Libby J. (Michael) Miller, Statesville; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. At her request, a graveside service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery by Dr. Ron Davis. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the Fellowship Hall of Holly Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28676.
