Beatrice Nixon Matthews

Matthews East Bend - Beatrice "Tee" Nixon Matthews, 86, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was born March 12, 1928 in Surry County to the late Caleb Nixon and Mamie Williamson Nixon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mawyer Doughton Matthews; sister, Imogene Speaks. Surviving are her children, Carlene Johnston, Steve (Kathy) Matthews; grandchildren, Jeremy (Marie) Johnston, Kelly (Adelia) Matthews, Nathan (Sherry) Matthews, Matt (Kristi) Matthews; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Zeke, Dalton, Sydney, Laura, Anna, and Camden Matthews; sisters, Juanita Parker, Ann (Jerry) Lamm, Jane (Frank) Gentry; brothers, Roy (Helen) Nixon, Franklin (Mary) Nixon, Bobby Nixon, Tommy (Ann) Nixon. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Forbush Friends by the Rev. Jake Penley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Forbush Friends.
