Elsie Wood Chappell

Chappell Jonesville- Mrs. Elsie Lorene Wood Chappell, 89 of US Highway 21 passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born January 11, 1925 in Surry County to the late John Riley and Flossie Cook Wood. Mrs. Chappell was retired from Elkin Furniture now Vaughn-Bassett Furniture with several years of service. She loved the Lord, her church, and was a very faithful member of Swaims Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Everette Chappell; twin brothers, William and Wilburn Wood, and three sisters, Nannie Snow, Eula Hanes, and Ticy Cheek. Surviving are her several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Jerry Shelton and Larry Luffman. Burial will follow in the Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Swaims Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Swaims Church Road, Hamptonville NC 27020. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Magnolia's at Yadkin Nursing Center, Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital I.C.U. for all the loving care given to Mrs. Chappell during her stay.
