Thomas Ellis Walker

Walker Yadkinville- Mr. Thomas Ellis "Tom" Walker, 77, of Beech Street passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. He was born April 10, 1937 in Davidson County to the late Wray and Viola Gooch Walker. Mr. Walker was a retired truck driver with various transportation carriers, was of the Baptist Faith, loved to play golf, go fishing, and most importantly spend time with his grandson. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War as a Ranger and Paratrooper. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Charlotte Faye Walker, Wilma McGee, and Evelene Leffel. Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Brenda Blackburn Walker, of the home; his son, C.W. Walker and wife, Christy of Yadkinville; his grandsons, Samuel Lucas Walker and Nathan McKinley Walker; 2 sisters, Magelene Fulk and husband, Ted, Dianne Thomas; a brother, Toney Walker and wife, Audrey; and his 2 loving feline friends, Dumpling and Muffin. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Brother Keith Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or the American Cancer Society,1114 Magnolia St, Greensboro, NC 27401.
