Hinshaw East Bend - Katie Lee Hinshaw, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2014. She was born January 15, 1928 in Yadkin County to the late Romie Willie Hinshaw and Goldie Hobson Hinshaw. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Miles Church. Katie Lee retired from F.W. Woolworth Company with over 50 years of service. She was a member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member as long as her health permitted. She served in many different positions in the church. Katie Lee enjoyed volunteering with Yadkin Christian Ministries, going to the East Bend Senior Center and the trips they went on. She never met a stranger, loved to be with people, loved to make cookies to share with many people and sent cards for all occasions to anyone she knew. She always had a special place in her heart for the people in law enforcement, especially Winston-Salem Police Dept. and Yadkin County Sherriff's Dept. She was a loving and caring person. Surviving are her sister, Lena Church; niece, Julie C. (Scottie) Johnson; nephew, Todd Church; great nephew, Elliot Church; special cousin, Jeanette Hinshaw, who never forgot her and visited her every week that she was in the nursing center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Will Hemric and Paul Hinshaw. Burial will in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
