Winston Salem Mrs. Mildred C. Alexander, 83, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2015 at 6:39pm at her home. Mrs. Alexander was born August 7, 1931 in Surry County to Loyal and Mamie C. Carter. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and graduated from Mountain Park High School. Mildred (Mama Millie too many) worked for Red Lobster for 45 years before retiring and was a mother figure to most of the employees who worked there. She loved her job and the people she worked with. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Carter; and a sister, Evelyn C. Golden. She leaves behind two sons to cherish her memory, W. Lee Holt and James "Jamie" Alexander III.; two grandchildren, Wendy Koontz and Jennifer Bost; five great grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Nancy) Carter; two sisters, Lou Rae (Jim) Burchette and Mary Jane (Bob) Morgan; 10 nieces and nephews; and a special friend she considered a daughter, Joy (Wayne) Moose. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:30am at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Mitch Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winston Salem East Hospice Team, 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Roger and Sharon Wooten & family, Craig Collins, Jamie Maness, Debbie Watkins, and the entire East Hospice Team for their love, care, and support shown to Mildred.
