John Wesley Adams, Jr.

John Wesley Adams, Jr., 90, left this earthly home to enter into his heavenly home on Monday, January 12, 2015. Mr. Adams was born on February 9, 1924 in Yadkin County to John Wesley Adams, Sr. and Hattie Bovender Adams. He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church in East Bend, N.C. Mr. Adams was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army with the 128th Hospital in Japan from 1945-1946. He was retired from Hanes Hosiery, Harold Salmons Construction Company and Yadkin County Government. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Beane Adams, a sister Opal A. Williams and three brothers Claude, Gaston, and Lee Roy Adams. He is survived by a sister Vivian Harrison (late George Harrison), a brother Jasper (Phyllis) Adams, several nieces, nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to John's caregivers and the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for the loving care given to Mr. Adams. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Shady Grove Methodist Church men's group or Shady Grove Methodist Church 4201 Shady Grove Church Rd. East Bend, NC 27018. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday January 16, 2015 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday following the visitation in the Gentry Chapel by Rev. James Williams, Rev. Gary Mahathey, and Rev. Nancy Johnson.
