Helen Steelman Harris

Yadkinville Mrs. Helen Marie Steelman Harris, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Harris was born July 2, 1931 in Yadkin County to Ervin and Lizzie Brown Steelman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Joyce Lee Harris; two children, Annie Leigh (Ted) Gant and Ricky Allen Harris; one sister, Pearlie Vestal; and three brothers, George, John David, and Clarence Steelman. She is survived by four children, Beverly (Wayne) Holt, Randy (Phyllis) Harris, Mickey (Pamela) Harris, and Tracie Harris; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Vernell Matthews, Mary Ruth Brawley, and Ola Trivette; and one brother, Clinton Steelman; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00AM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Scott Welch and Tim Brawley officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Palliative Care of Forsyth Medical Center and Dr. Hope Evans for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Harris.
