Nellie Galliher Wilcox

Yadkinville Mrs. Nellie Blanche Galliher Wilcox, 92, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Wilcox was born October 10, 1922 in Iredell County to Clint and Fallie Stroud Galliher. She was a graduate of High Point School of Nursing with a degree in nursing. She retired from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with 21 years of service. Mrs. Wilcox was a member of Longtown UMC. She enjoyed crocheting and feeding her birds. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilcox was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ray Wilcox; two children, Linda Colee and James Wilcox; one grandson, Seth Brown; and one brother, Gilbert Galliher. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Phil) Hauser and Susan Brown; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Mark) Decker, Benjamin (Jami) Hauser, Adam (Kelly) Wilcox, Nicole (Nick) Gargasz, Jason Colee, Matthew (Rachel) Brown, Candace Brown, and Chelsea Brown and fiancée Kevin Enloe; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Margie (Claude) Strickland; and one sister-in-law, Dot Galliher. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 31, 2014 at 2:00PM at Longtown UMC. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Longtown UMC Cemetery Fund, 1416 Longtown Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Intermediate Care Unit for all the loving care given to Mrs. Wilcox.
