Robert Henry Hodge

Boonville Mr. Robert Henry Hodge, 82, passed away Saturday February 7, 2015 from injuries sustained in an accident on his farm. Robert was born June29, 1932 in Surry County to Henry and Ruby Hodges Hodge. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Robert was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired from UNIFI as a maintenance engineer and also retired as a farmer. Robert was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. A man of many skills and talents, he was known as a man who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed working on his farm, helping his friends and neighbors, and restoring old farm equipment. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Martin Hodge; three children, Bobby (Robin) Hodge, Gena (Doug) Knighten, and Tena (Van) Williams; two grandchildren, Andrew and Adam Hodge; two brothers, Monroe (Rosalene) Hodge and Billy (Judy) Hodge; brother-in-law, Donnie (Wanda) Martin; sister-in-law, Carol Miller; nephews and niece, Wendell (Karen) Hodge, Chad (Wendy) Hodge, Michael (Gilda) Hodge, Jamie (Gina) Chappell, Andy (Tarinda) Chappell, Mickey (Melissa) Martin, and Amanda (Doug) Yarboro. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 11, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Hurbert Wishon and Rev. Howard Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Friends Church cemetery with full military honors provided by NC National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Grove Friends Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Max Cranfill 1353 Haire Road Yadkinville NC 27055.
