Jonesville Mr. Daniel Lee Gilley, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Gilley was born August 6, 1926 in Surry County to James and Sarah Nixon Gilley. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Cheek Gilley; a son, Danny Ray Gilley; and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by four children, Brenda (Larry) Byrd, Linda (Jim) Bone, Tommy (Karen) Gilley, and Steve (Janette) Gilley; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Michael) Gais, Jason (Dianne) Byrd, Ellen (Kevin) Johnson, Kina (Brad) Cartee, Nicholas (Michelle) Gilley, Jeremy Gilley, Daniel (Jess) Gilley, and Amanda (Randy) Blackburn; seventeen great grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Adams, Leo St. John, Cleo Cheek, Edna (Nathaniel) Luffman, Betty Pardue; one brother, Paul Gilley; and a special K-9 Companion, Sugar. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 3:00PM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by NC National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00PM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swan Creek Baptist Church, 2501 Swan Creek Road, Jonesville, NC 28642 or to Meals on Wheels, Yveddi PO Box 309 Boonville NC 27011. Reynolds Hospice Home for all the loving care shown to Mr. Gilley during his illness.
