Ethelene Sparks Holman

Ethelene Sparks Holman, 80, of Jonesville left her earthly home early on the morning of February 18, 2015. She was born June 23, 1934 to Elzie and Betty Pardue Sparks of Cycle. On April 26, 1953, Ethelene married the love of her life, Roy Holman, and they were blessed with four daughters, who survive her. Mrs. Holman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, and a sister, Bonnie Sparks. She is survived by daughters Diane (T.R.) Marshall of Boonville; Sharon (Eddie) Mabe of Jonesville; Teresa Holman of Hamptonville; and Robin (David) Cox of Hamptonville. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Richard (Kandi) Shaffner, Chris (Hannah) Shaffner, Kristy (Jeff) Brown, Courtney (William) Bauguess, and Brittany Cox (Michael Connelly). Ethelene's great grandchildren were the light of her life and have kept her going for the past six years: Amanda and Carson Shaffner, Camdyn Bauguess, and Tucker and Ella Connelly; step great grandchildren: Tiffany Trivette and Nathan Williams; a great-great grandson Macallan Adame. She is survived by a brother, Troy (Doris) Sparks of Jonesville, a sister-in-law, Judith (Bill) Cox of Winston-Salem and a brother-in-law, Cecil (Teresa) Lewis of Winston-Salem, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday February 20, 2015 at Gentry Family funeral Service in Jonesville. Her funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday February 21, 2015 at West Yadkin Baptist Church by Rev. Flake Mason, Rev. Justin Crouse, and Rev. Dennis Bell. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her home caregivers - Barbara Duggins, Marlene Gilpin, Anita Masten, Jeannie Harrison, and Pat Draughn for the loving care showed to Mama while she was at home. We would also like to thank the entire staff at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home who became like our second family in the last six weeks.
