Norene Matthews

East Bend Mrs. Norene Miller Matthews, 88, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, March 22, 2015. Mrs. Matthews was born January 22, 1927 in Yadkin County to Ulysses and Lura Hobson Miller. She was a member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Matthews worked at Hanes Hosiery until her retirement. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clemith Henry Matthews; a son, Charles Matthews; and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Robin) Matthews, Dalton (Ellen) Matthews, and Terry (Pam) Matthews; grandchildren, Melissa (Roger) Doub, Nikki (Craig) Davis, Ryan Morris, Krystal Morris, Kevin (Kathy) Matthews, Kimberly (Darren) Davis, Brad (Heather) Matthews, and Emily (David) Southers; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two sisters, Bertha Wright and Rosa Matthews; one brother, U.G. Miller and one sister-in-law, Marian Miller. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 3:00PM at Richmond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Will Hamric officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond Hill Baptist Church 2205 Richmond Hill Church Rd, Boonville, NC 27011.
