Our loving father, Garl Grant Jester, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He has gone to be with his beloved wife Grace, who died on January 12, 2007. Now their "Enduring Love" will be for Eternity. He was born on May 18, 1925 in Yadkin County where he remained a lifetime resident. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church with over 50 years of perfect attendance. He was a Sunday school teacher, a Deacon, past chairman of the Finance Committee and he helped to establish the Union Grove Cemetery Trust Fund. His forefathers were co-founders of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a lifelong Tobacco Farmer. He worked for the Yadkin County ASC Office as a Performance Supervisor, The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation for 12 years and many years at Peppers and Carolina Star Warehouses. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees for Hoots Memorial Hospital for 10 years. He served on the Yadkin County Nursing Home Advisory Committee under the Northwest Piedmont Council of Governments as a volunteer for many years. He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II in the 5th Amphibious Force which landed on Iwo Jima February 19, 1945. His unit participated in the assault of Mount Suribachi where the United States flag was raised. During his Marine Corps service, he received the Purple Heart, the Presidential Unit Commendation, the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star. His loving wife, Grace Hobson Jester, his beloved grandson, Jason Grant Jester, his parents, Otis W. and Bertha Caudle Jester, his brothers, Paul Jester and Onie Jester, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Jester Lineberry and her husband Jerry Lee Lineberry of Hampton, Virginia and his son, Michael Regan Jester and his wife, Patricia Spencer Jester of East Bend and his wonderful grandson, Byron Lee Lineberry and his wife, Lynn Debnam Lineberry of Hampton, Virginia and a special nephew Donald (Hilda) Jester and a special brother-in-law Sonny (Shirley) Hobson, who were always there lending a helping hand and watching out for him until the end. His life was devoted to his family, his church, his community and his country. He gave us the true meaning of Life, Love and Faith. We will miss you Dad. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville. Interment will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at Gentry Funeral Service. Memorial Donations may be made to the Union Grove Cemetery Trust Fund in lieu of Flowers.
